OH yeah.. I do remember.... how sad is that?!?!?! No, can't even think about not having a computer!!!
Ohhhh yeah! I remember... i remembe hooking your computer up to the television instead of a monitor... I remember saving files to cassette tapes.... I remember a computer tech telling me "16 mg of Ram... why waste your money you'll never need all of that! bwahahahah.....I hate being old <LOL>
::gasp:: No c o m p u t e r s?????? Oh, be still my heart. How did I survive back then? ::shivering:: Thank God the lords of technology came along, else I would have time to read books again.
Wait a minute. I LIKE books. Dangit. Why must I choose. That's it. The lords of work (::cough:slavery:cough::) are going to have to let me have more time. There are just too many good things in life that I'm missing. Why can't I read, write, journal, drink wine, cook, photograph, AND work (an hour or two a week) and still bring home a good paycheck? Dangit.

* 5¼" floppy disks--Oh yeah!
* when hard drives were measured in MB's.--My brother-in-law (the one with the bad kidneys) got a brand new computer with a 20 MB hdd. We thought that was huge! We couldn't think of what we might put on it to possibly fill it.
* When your monitor could fit ontop of the CPU.--Or was built in to it.
* DOS--Hey, not everybody's upgraded to XP yet. Dos is still a going concern.
* Black and white monitors.--Green and white, honey. Green and white.
* Windows, not 98, not XP, just Windows.--Newfangled Windows? We worked in DOS straight up.
* the sound of a dial up modem.--Still have one (OK so I'm not actually using it...)
* a 4 character password for AOL.--That wasn't that long ago.
* what life was like WITHOUT a computer?--Now you're just talkin' crazy, girl!

Dorn you are going to laugh at me. I still can't get the drop/drag/paste thing down right. LOL....Sandi
AHHHHHHH I remember when I had floppy bigger than 5 1/2 LOL Lori
How about GREEN Monitors? And remember the commodore 64? You had to load a program via cassette tape.. It would take upwards of a half an hour just to load a simple game....
My life would be EMPTY hehehehhehehehe
Chelle
Yes. Do You remember:
* 8" Floppy Drives?
* How much a 5MB subsystem cost in 1981? Hint: More than US$1000
* When you didn't use a seperate monitor - you used a terminal bigger than many 19" TV's
* CP/M
* Green Screens and a 9x9 pixel matrix for a dot-matrix printer
* GeOS, BeOS and others
* 300 baud modem cradles you placed the telephone onto.
* WordStar
* How to type? How to do double-entry bookkeeping. How to create, organize and maintain a datafile by hand and 3x5 cards? How to process, enlarge and enhance black and white photographs at home in your bathtub with blackout paper taped to the windows and duct tape over the light switch? How to milk a cow? Drive a manual 10 speed transmission with a two-speed rearend? Double clutch? Properly shoot a .45 without getting burned by your brass? Can you slaughter, dress, cut and wrap your own meat? Skin a steer without ruining the hide? Tan a hide?
I've done them all. Have you?
::::curling into a fetal position::::: You're scaring me.......
